It has been a few weeks since I last posted. In my previous post I talked about gaining buy-in for using this analytical tool in the monitoring documentation related to pressure injury prevention.
Thank you for reading this post, don’t forget to subscribe!I have continued to share data with and have continued to receive positive feedback on how sharing it with the units monthly has helped to raise awareness and increase nursing compliance in interventions related to Hospital Acquired Pressure Injury (HAPI) prevention.
I also met with my liaison from the office that is guiding me as an ‘inventor’. My next step is to validate the data.
I looked within my academic facility and there is a biostatistical data department that performs this type of service for a fee. The fee for internal work runs from an average of $100-$150/hour and we are looking at about 20-30hrs of work. I reached out to another statistical department because other departments will often work with leadership on different projects as part of our organizational collaboration. I think the biostatistics department is a more formal avenue, not sure. I did inquire about what the ‘validation’ looks like and it will come in the form of a written, formal report. On my end, I need to create a table with the timeline of interventions on my side. I have kept a record via emails so at this point I need to spend the time on creating the table with dated interventions so I can provide it to whoever ends up assisting with the validation.
I also reached out to the Career Development department at my academic facility. I asked about receiving guidance on grant searching and writing, and also on simply searching for internal resources to cover the cost of validating my data. It may be difficult for a single hospital unit to cover a cost that exceeds $3000 all at once so I am searching for all options. Worst case scenario, I need to cover the cost out of pocket, but I am optimistic that there are many resources internally. More to come.
